One year later!

I will never make Gill get shots on his birthday again...he won't remember -- I hope. He cried from the moment they took his clothes off to get weighed till about 15 seconds after his shots. Then he acted like nothing ever happened!? He's also teething again - finally. We thought he was only going to have his 2 bottom teeth for the rest of his life. Now he's getting his 2 front teeth. The doctor asked us if we were giving Gill whole milk. Trey & I looked at each other and lied, "Yes, we are." Trey does the grocery shopping & didn't know to buy whole milk instead of 2%! Oh well, he's still alive and we practiced our lying to the doctor.

One Year Stats:
Height: 31.5" - 90%
Weight: 23 lb 10 oz - 90%
Head: 18.5" - 70%

Gill's First Birthday

...and first cupcake -- any real sugar for that matter! Poor kid barely had any fruit before this. Needless to say, he loved it...and it was well worth the red stains everywhere. He had a nice pink bath afterward & lots of fun with all of his new toys & books.

Gill's first day of school

Gill had his first day of school at UCC. I had a meeting, so Trey took him without me. I was a little sad - but Trey did a great job & remembered to pack everything in his new "big boy" lunchbox. Gill had a great day & found a bin of hats and put them on - of course...he loves accessories.

First Trip to the Lake

Gill was so excited about his first boat ride that he fell asleep! I'm pretty sure Trey said this was the single best moment of his life. These times when Gill falls asleep in our arms are so rare since he is in constant motion. He isn't walking, but is really fast! He turns one year in a month and we are amazed at how quickly it went. We are soaking it all in....even the times when he arches his back and screams -- it's lovely!

Where did the summer go?

I've had the month of July off, but go back to work August 3rd - oh sad day! We have had a lot of fun. Our new house is near a park with swings. He's not sure what to think, but loves the wind blowing in his hair (which seems pretty red at times!) His eyes are still blue and are not showing any signs of changing. He's HUGE and loves every food that I have given him....avocados, cheese, all veggies, and even tofu (Trey thinks it's ridiculous that I give him that!) He has gotten really fast at crawling and is very mischievous -- but then gives you that killer smile and you forget that he's doing something off limits like playing with the remote or your shoes.

The video was after our morning at the park, which I thought would wear him out. He LOVES the camera & won't ever let me film him playing because he wants to see himself in the playback. Like father like son. I've loved all of his stages, but this one is truly special. He's babbling like crazy and I think he's going to walk any day now.

We are going to LA for Andrew's wedding this week. It will be our longest time away from Gill, but much needed for us! It has been amazing watching Trey become a father. He's much better than he realizes and I am so lucky he's my partner in this. It really does take two people to keep up with this little devil!

9 month check-up

9 month stats:

Height: 30 1/2 - 97th%
Weight: 22 lbs, 5 oz - 75th%
Head: 18 1/4 - 75%

Gill got a little upset with the nurses this visit. Apparently this is a pretty normal reaction at this stage. Not sure if our reaction was normal though...we were laughing so hard at him, we kind of forgot to comfort him. He has a flair for theatrics.

He's adjusted well to the new house and has only had one nasty fall where his head and the fireplace had a nice introduction. We've been getting lots of "ma ma" and "da da" lately. Even though we don't think he has a clue what he's saying, it still sounds like music to our ears.

We're moving!

Well, after five years on Hilltop we are moving to Sweetbriar. We are sad to leave our incredible friends and neighbors Matt & Vivian, but hopefully only 1.2 miles won't be too long for them to travel to see their first born, Gill! We will miss the house we made a home, but will not miss the beer bottles in the yard every weekend -- thanks TCU!

Get your swim trunks ready!

Gill's first time at the pool! He wasn't sure what to make of the huge crowd or the stupid hat Linny made him wear.

Holy Sick Baby!

We have survived our first real bug...we had 7 days of "projectiles" from both ends. During the chaos that was our lives, Gill cut a second tooth & learned a new trick -- standing up in his crib.

Happy Easter!

Uncle Steve must have given Gill his fashion sense.

Gill's crawling!

Gill started crawling at 7 months old and cannot be contained! He goes straight for everything dangerous--cords, plugs, and anything dirty---with wide eyes and a very possessed look!

We say goobye to Gill's cousins.

Meredith and Alan lost their twin babies, a boy and a girl, at 21 weeks...just 9 days shy of having an 80% chance of living. We are so sad for our best friends and the precious little souls that they gave a chance at life to. Mer & Al showed incredible strength through it all - delivery, a night in the hospital, and a funeral. There are no words that can explain why this happen or when the pain will ease, but after a long struggle to get pregnant -- they will try again in the Fall 2009. Keep them in your prayers as we continue to think about Baby A and Baby B everyday.

Gill's First Vacation

Gill went on his first vacation over Spring Break. We went to Lost Pines in Bastrop with all my college friends, their husbands and babies. There were 5 boys and Marjorie, Emily's little girl. Everyone was under two years old. Even though the weather was bad, we had a great time. Gill did awesome! When we got back, we started on veggies - peas first. He is definitely going to win an eating contest or two in his life (even if it's at home against Trey). I was in NYC with my Corsicana girls for the last part of the break. We had a great time staying up all night talking. While I was there, Gill had carrots and loved them. Trey also lowered his bed - he's just getting so big & active - it was time. When I got back on Saturday we tried the sippy cup and he was able to hold it himself & actually likes water. (I didn't know the stopper had to be in, at first it just poured all over him. Then once my friends told me it was supposed to be in, he was able to do it! Motherhood doesn't always come naturally!)
